The Philippines and Cambodia have pledged to deepen their collaboration in technology and digital governance, aiming to enhance their digital government frameworks.

In a joint press conference held in Siem Reap, Cambodia's minister of post and telecommunications, Chea Vandeth, and the Philippines' secretary of the department of information and communications technology (DICT), Ivan John E. Uy, discussed the progress of their bilateral cooperation in the digital sector.

The event highlighted the significant strides both nations are making in transforming their digital government systems. The discussion centred on the exchange of expertise and tech transfer between the two ministries, focusing on key projects such as Cambodia's blockchain-powered document verification platform, verify.gov.kh, and the Philippines' upcoming eGov SuperApp, which is set to launch in 2025.

Vandeth (pictured, right) praised the Philippines' eGov SuperApp, highlighting its potential to integrate various government services into one platform. He pointed out that the app could serve as an inspiration for Cambodia's own DG SuperApp development, aimed at simplifying government service access for citizens.

Uy (pictured, left) shared insights into the Philippines' verify.gov.ph platform, designed to combat document forgery and streamline access to verified public records. He also acknowledged Cambodia's verify.gov system for its efficiency in verifying crucial documents, including identification cards, civil status certificates, and academic credentials.

"Minister Vandeth emphasised that the Philippines-Cambodia cooperation on mutual transfer of technology will promote adoption of sustainable technologies and strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations," the DICT posted on social media.

The two nations have also committed to joint training programs for technical teams. The partnership builds on the Act of Solidarity signed last December, reinforcing the two countries' shared commitment to advancing digital governance.

This collaboration marks a new chapter in the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Cambodia and the Philippines, establishing a precedent for broader international cooperation.
