Ooh Media has signed a multi-year deal with Nine to broadcast customised 9News content across its large format digital out of home network, bringing news headlines to screens in capital cities and regional centres across Australia.
The partnership will see 9News provide more than 50 news updates per day, seven days a week, tailored for local markets. The content will appear across 74 of the company’s digital billboards in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, as well as regional locations including the NSW Northern Rivers.
Ooh Media CEO Cathy O’Connor said the partnership aligns with the company’s strategy to expand the utility and relevance of its out of home network.
“This initiative further reinforces oOh!’s commitment to making public spaces better by providing timely, attention-grabbing content that extends the value exchange for both audiences and our advertising partners,” she said.
To deliver the content at scale, Ooh Media’s technology and innovation hub POLY has developed a responsive design system that uses a single template to automatically adapt to seven different billboard formats.
Nine’s director of news and current affairs, Fiona Dear, said the move reflects the broadcaster’s evolving distribution strategy.
“Whether that be on their daily commute, at work, or at home, we want our news content to be easy to consume and access,” she said. “This partnership with oOh! is another piece to our puzzle, ensuring that we are broadening our distribution even further, and giving millions of Australians daily updates to keep them informed.”
The deal expands Ooh Media’s growing content network, which already includes partnerships with News Corp Australia’s news.com.au, The Australian and Vogue, along with Broadsheet on its Office network.
Bel Harper, chief product and marketing officer at Ooh Media, added: “We are continuously innovating to make our Out of Home network a dynamic platform that engages audiences and delivers greater impact for advertisers. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to scalable solutions for key partners such as Nine.”
