Ogilvy Singapore has promoted Ishita Roy (pictured left) and Frederick Tong (pictured right) as joint heads of strategy, according to the agency in a statement.

They succeed Jason Hill, who has since left the agency, according to a statement to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE. Roy and Tong will oversee the Singapore market, reporting to Kunal Jeswani, group CEO for Ogilvy Singapore and Malaysia, and Arvind Srivastava, Asia chief strategy officer.

Both Roy and Tong have contributed significantly to the agency’s growth and client relationships through their diverse backgrounds and skills. They have both also been at Ogilvy Singapore for most of the last decade.

Tong has over 18 years of experience in creative, digital, and PR agencies, and has been a key contributor to the agency’s business success since joining in 2017. Some of his work includes campaigns for clients such as AIA, Decathlon, IHG, and the Early Childhood Development Agency.

Prior to his stint at Ogilvy, Tong held positions in organisations such as TRACK Asia, DDB Group Singapore and Tribal Worldwide.

Meanwhile, Roy brings over 17 years of experience to her new role, having been both a marketer and an agency brand strategist. Since joining Ogilvy in 2017, she has played a pivotal role in leading strategy across key clients such as the Changi Airport Group, Pringles, and more recently, Mondelez.

Prior to her stint at Ogilvy, Roy held leading positions in companies such as the Wunderman Network, BBC and Viacom.

“Both Roy and Tong are fantastic Ogilvy ambassadors, and I am so happy that we have been able to create the opportunity for them to take leadership roles in the company,” said Jeswani.

He added that the promotions showcase Roy’s and Tong’s strategic capabilities as much as their ability to lead people and build culture.

“Roy and Tong embody the strategic excellence that defines Ogilvy. Their combined expertise and vision will undoubtedly elevate our strategic capabilities and drive innovation across all facets of our work,” added Srivastava.

The appointments, which are effective immediately, signal a new era of strategic leadership and innovation for the agency, it added.

The news comes after the recent appointment of Julia Hou in the agency’s Chinese offices a week ago. Hou was named group executive creative director, with a remit covering Beijing and South China to lead its overall creative product and reputation.

In her new role, she will work with Wei Fei and Thomas Zhu, both group executive creative directors at Ogilvy Shanghai.
