Ocean Park has introduced a series of neon lights-themed activities in celebration of the Year of the Dragon. Also known as the Ocean Park Lunar Fiesta 2024, this celebration will include the brand new regular experiences Neon Lights Up Old Hong Kong and All Star Jam.
The Ocean Park Lunar Fiesta is an annual event organised by the park to celebrate Lunar New Year. This year’s edition will take place from 10 February until 3 March 2024.
Neon Lights Up Old Hong Kong is an Instagram hotspot at the park where luminous neon signs adorn the 80s to 90s streetscape, offering visitors the opportunity to capture precious memories and indulge in nostalgic snacks.
As part of the initiative, over 10 performers will show up on the street to interact with visitors starting at 5pm daily. During weekdays, visitors can enjoy dance moves at Dance Jam, while on weekends, Dazzling Starlit Street will offer visitors live music performances of popular songs and classic hits.
Performers will invite visitors to join the spectacular Neon Lighting Show, which takes place three times a day and features vibrant colours and dazzling lights on the street.
Meanwhile, the All Star Jam is formed by a band comprising Whiskers and Friends as they showcase their skills and set the stage daily at the recently reopened Whiskers Theatre.
The show, curated by celebrity show director Jack Lam, features the beloved mascots Whiskers, Bao Bao, Dougie, Fluffi, Justin, Mark and Redd, who will be donning glamorous outfits. The theme songs and choreography have been created by local musician Chiu Tsang Hei and choreographer Fai Lam to enhance the show experience.
As an added highlight, Ocean Park will be making a special appearance with Whiskers and Friends at the Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade. The float will feature signature elements of Ocean Park and Water World, adding an extra touch of excitement and spectacle to the celebration.
The fiesta also includes the nearly five-metre-tall Fortune Dragon Drums at Waterfront Plaza, where a golden dragon soars high above, symbolising the aspirations for a remarkable year ahead. Participants can have a chance to meet and greet with the God of Fortune, the Roaring Dragon Dance and the Luck of Lions Dance.
Another highlight of the Lunar Fiesta is the limited-edition Lion Dancing Panda Shoulder Plush. This panda plush can be adorned with a lion dance hat, enhancing the Chinese New Year atmosphere. Visitors can also take part in game booths throughout the park for the exclusive festive game plushies and romantic Heart Hugging Hedgehog ahead of Valentine’s Day.
On the other hand, Ocean Park continues to host the popular Le Petit Prince 80th Anniversary Galactic Voyage, allowing visitors of all ages to embark on an enchanting journey with the French character.
