Cross-border payments company Nium has appointed Alyssa-Jane Tan as its new director of marketing for Asia-Pacific (APAC).

In this newly created role, Tan will be overseeing and driving Nium’s marketing strategy for APAC. She will report to Nium's SVP and head of global marketing and communications, Jeremiah Glodoveza.

"I am thrilled to join Nium as the marketing director for APAC. Since joining, I am most excited to work alongside an incredibly talented team of marketers," said Tan when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out.

"As the brand expands into more regions, APAC’s diverse and fast-growing business ecosystem continues to be an opportunity for Nium to solidify our market leadership."

Before joining Nium, Tan held notable roles in the fintech industry. She was the head of global B2C and new business (Razer Gold and Silver) at Razer for over two years and was the associate director of global marketing and communications for Fiuu (previously Razer FinTech) for slightly over a year.

Before that, Tan spent just under three years at ShopBack, joining the shopping, rewards and payments platform in 2016 as its partnerships manager. She quickly moved up the ladder six months later as its merchant developer manager before being promoted to growth marketing manager in 2017.

According to her LinkedIn, she started her career at Procon Events and Marketing in its events and projects team.

Tan's appointment comes as the Singapore fintech company expands its footprint. In November 2021, Nium expanded into the North Asia market by opening an office at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation's (HKSTP) InnoCentre.

The expansion helped Nium grow its application programming interface (API)-based payments services in the region, connecting consumers, corporations and financial institutions to the world’s payment infrastructure through a single API for international transfers.

"Our new Hong Kong operation is a major step in our North Asia growth journey, with HKSTP’s extensive fintech expertise and unmatched network, we aim to become one of the key players in the Hong Kong fintech ecosystem," said Ivy Lun, head of North Asia, Nium at the time.

Thus far, the company holds several regulatory licenses and offices around the world, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, India, the US, and the UK.
