New World Development’s CEO and K11 Group’s founder Adrian Cheng Chi Kong (pictured) has resigned as co-chairman and non-executive director of Meta Media after seven months.
According to Meta Media’s announcement on HKEX, Cheng has tendered his resignation with effect from 5 October as he wishes to devote more time to his other business. He has also resigned as an honorary vice-chairman and chief strategic advisor of the group and has been appointed as an art consultant of the group, effective from 5 October.
Cheng was appointed as the company's new co-chairman and non-executive director of the company’s board back in February. According to the official statement, Cheng was tasked with fast-tracking the company's business expansion and international reputation with his visionary approach and thinking towards retail, art, media, design and fashion. Cheng was tasked to identify new growth opportunities for the modern media business in China and globally.
Following the resignation of Cheng, Shao Zhong has been re-designated from a co-chairman of the board to the chairman of the board, with effect from 5 October. Shao will also continue to serve as an executive director and the chief executive officer of Meta Media. The board believes that with the support of the management, vesting the roles of both the chairman and the chief executive officer in Shao can facilitate the execution of the group’s business strategies and boost the effectiveness of its operation.
