Merkle Hong Kong’s managing director Nathan Petralia (pictured) has departed to pursue new opportunities where he can fully leverage his regional leadership experience and expertise in customer experience management.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Petralia said in his next role, he is seeking greater involvement in shaping organisational strategy and business direction, in addition to leading digital growth initiatives and completing customer life cycles.

“I am excited to take on a role that allows me to fully leverage my experience driving digital growth. My next opportunity has three important elements - professional, personal, and growth,” he added.

Professionally, he wants to stay at the cutting edge of digital experience and business outcomes as his passion sits at the intersection of marketing, consulting, and technology.

“For growth, I want to continue investing in leadership development through mentoring, coaching or courses. My next company needs to enable my development like I will enable their success. I'm motivated by progressive companies ready to embrace the future. I look forward to conversations where I can make an impact,” he added.

Petralia has been with dentsu for over five years. During that time, he had helmed various senior roles including general manager of Merkle and business director of Isobar Commerce.

He was promoted to managing director of Merkle Hong Kong in 2022, where he was accountable for Merkle’s operation and yielding a competitive advantage for the agency network as an integrated service provider (Creative, Media, CXM) and driving strategic growth for the CXM business in the market given the vast potential.

While his successor is yet to be decided, Petralia’s routine operations will be managed jointly by Dentsu’s Greater Bay Area CEO, Hong Kong CEO, and supported from India for delivery.

He said: “Throughout my 15+ years career, I have been a part of the explosive evolution of digital technology and marketing. The nearly six years at Merkle and Dentsu were a privilege - introducing and scaling the customer experience capability in Hong Kong and collaborating with teams worldwide to deliver global outcomes for clients. Thank you for the tremendous learning experiences and amazing friendships and I wish Dentsu the very best as they consolidate acquired businesses into one modern agency."

As the digital agency landscape evolves rapidly, driven by emerging technologies, Petralia said his next chapter will involve helping progressive businesses, who are ready for this change, authentically connect with customers and generate reciprocal value.
