Mamee Chef releases Hari Raya film with stars Sheila Majid and Kugiran Masdo

Mamee Chef has released its Hari Raya film of the season starring brand ambassador Sheila Majid and guest star Kugiran Masdo.

In the film, Mamee Chef focuses on its two new special flavours for the year, lontong and rendang, and shows how it can fuel an fun and exciting Raya this year. ‘Sinaran Syawal’ by Mamee Cheff also bestows blessings to Malaysians this Raya, as the self-titled song implies a bright Syawal celebration.The title of the song also plays on the popularity of Sheila Majid’s ‘Sinaran’, known as one of her signature songs since the 80’s.

The film also stars Kugiran Masdo, a groovy Malaysia indie-rock band with popular songs on social platforms including TikTok.

The campaign film was released in partnership with Mediabrands Content Studio (MBCS) which sits within the IPG Mediabrands network.

“Sheila Majid is known to be one of Malaysia’s most legendary singers and is commonly referred to as ‘Malaysia’s Queen of Jazz’, so this collaboration of a legendary singer with legendary flavours through Mamee Chef would bring legendary vibes for Raya," said Mandar Wairkar, the creative director of MBCS.

"At the same time, we wanted to add a pleasant surprise in order to connect with the youth, and Kugiran Masdo was a natural choice to introduce Mamee Chef’s Lontong and Rendang Legenda as the go-to convenient meal for the festivities,” said Wairkar.

The film was directed by Fadzly Tajuddin and produced by Mastermind Group and was made to bring Mamee Chef’s authentic flavours to its consumers in an exciting and relevant way, according to How Yuan Yi, the chief marketing officer of Mamee-Double Decker. "What better way to showcase easy-to-whip-up meals that resonates familiar festive flavours than through a star powered film with renowned local music talents?" he asked.

Recently, Coca Cola also launched a donation program initiative to provide food for those in need for Ramadan. The donation program turns bottle labels into a currency that can be used to donate a meal with the purchase of a Coke bottle.

The aim with this campaign is to bring people together for a cause that signifies the spirit of Ramadan, said Mostafa Talaat, head of consumer and shopper content at Coca-Cola.
