LiveIn, a Malaysia-based housing provider, has acquired KoolKost, an Indonesian accommodation brand, from RedDoorz. The move strengthens LiveIn's presence in Indonesia, adding 27 KoolKost properties across six cities to its growing portfolio.

KoolKost, launched in 2020 by RedDoorz, offers budget-friendly long-term stays, commonly known as "kos-kosan" in Indonesia. Catering to students, workers, and long-term travellers, KoolKost properties provide essentials such as Wi-Fi, free drinking water, and room cleaning services.

"This marks a pivotal moment for LiveIn as we continue to strengthen our presence in Indonesia. By leveraging KoolKost's extensive network of property partners and its established brand, we are excited about the potential to drive strong results for property owners, as well as provide young people with flexible housing that fuels their growth and aspirations," said LiveIn co-founder and CEO Keek Wen Khai in a release.

Amit Saberwal, founder and CEO of RedDoorz, welcomed LiveIn's expansion into Indonesia, saying, "With a market of this scale, there's space for multiple players to contribute and solve key challenges. Our focus remains on building Southeast Asia's largest multi-brand hospitality company, with a strong emphasis on expanding our hotel brands such as RedDoorz and with an increasing focus on our mid-tier Sans hotel and Urbanview brands."

KoolKost will continue to operate as a sub-brand under LiveIn Indonesia, the release continued. Over time, its properties will be integrated into LiveIn's standardised product categories, including LiveIn Intro, LiveIn Select, and LiveIn Signature.

With Statistics Indonesia projecting that 66.6% of the country's population will reside in urban areas by 2035, demand for flexible living spaces is expected to rise. LiveIn aims to meet this growing need by offering affordable housing solutions through its online-to-offline ecosystem.

Founded in 2015 by Khai and Joey Lim, LiveIn was formerly known as HostelHunting. Now, it operates over 10,000 rooms in four countries: Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia.
