Malaysia Aviation Group's Journify gets digital boost, eyes new collabs

Journify, the travel and lifestyle digital platform of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), is enhancing its eCommerce platform and launching a new mobile app on iOS and Android. Through the app, consumers can discover places of interest, plan bespoke experiences and shop for products and services in the app's marketplace. Anchoring on travel and lifestyle, Journify currently offers a personalised travel experience solution that allows consumers to have easy access to information and knowledge.

According to Journify, it is currently focusing on merchants related to travel lifestyle and locally developed products and services. In its "Local Favourites" section, it features homegrown companies and products such as Penan bags, batik clothing, Trapo car accessories and local food and beverages. At the same time, it has also collaborated with craft store, Karyaneka to promote local artisans to travellers.

The Group is actively seeking out partnerships and inviting more merchants in various areas of the travel sector to join the platform. To date, Journify has nearly 100 merchants. The company is also working closely with various state tourism boards to promote more places and hidden gems in Malaysia.

Alongside the digital enhancement, Journify is also offering a first-of-its-kind flagship service called "Journify2U" at KL International Airport. With this service, customers are able to purchase items on the Journify website or app and have it delivered to them at the boarding hall. Currently, the feature offers a selection of meal and drinks from the F&B outlets at the airport. More services for the feature are said to come very soon.

This announcement comes as Malaysia plans to fully reopen its borders on 1 April as it transitions to the COVID-19 endemic phase. According to multiple media reports including Channel NewsAsia, travellers entering and exiting Malaysia would only require valid travel documents. Malaysians can also travel freely to other countries with similar open borders. A+M has reached out to MAG for additional information regarding the collaboration.

MAG first introduced the Journify app in July 2021, representing its third business focusing on providing end-to-end travel solutions. According to MAG, the platform looks to "transform the consumers' experience on digital platform". MAG's group CEO, Izham Ismail, said previously that the launch of Journify marked a significant milstone in its transformation journey towards becoming Asia's leading travel and aviation services group.

In line with the digital enhancement, MAG recently launched a full-scale brand campaign, called "One app. Endless Journeys," featuring a cat donning the Journify pendant, representing the app, taking customers through a journey to different places to experience attractions, food, destinations and shopping, among others.

Separately last month, Malaysia Airlines (MAB) and and Qatar Airways inked a strategic partnership to offer more access for passengers to travel to new destinations beyond their individual networks. swith this partnership, MAB's passengers will have seamless connectivity to popular destinations in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and the Americas with Qatar Airways' extensive network via Doha. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways' passengers will gain better access to the wider domestic Malaysia market and key destinations in Asia. This includes Penang, Langkawi, and Medan operated by MAB via its hub in KLIA. Both parties have also agreed to double down on other areas of the business such as air cargo, operations or commercial services.
