Malaysia Airlines has renewed its strategic partnerships with Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club (JDT) and the Malaysian Football League (MFL). The renewal is part of the airline's continued commitment to supporting local sports and fostering national pride through football. It adds an additional two years to the partnership, extending it through to 2026.

The continued partnership will provide logistical support and elevate both brands through joint marketing efforts. It will also broaden Malaysia Airlines' reach among football fans in Malaysia and across the region.

In addition to extending its partnership with JDTFC, Malaysia Airlines has also renewed its partnership with the MFL for another three years, securing the airline's involvement through to 2027. The continued partnership will reinforce Malaysia Airlines' commitment to supporting local football and enhancing the brand's visibility at major league events.

According to a statement seen by A+M, these partnerships reflect Malaysia Airlines' broader strategy of using sports as a platform to unite the nation and showcase Malaysian culture on a global stage. By extending its collaboration with JDT and MFL, Malaysia Airlines reaffirms its commitment to delivering exceptional experiences both in the air and on the field, it added.

"We are very pleased to continue our partnerships with JDT and MFL. This decision underscores our commitment to not only supporting local sports but also leveraging these alliances to enhance our brand's engagement with the community. We aim to strengthen our connection with fans, drive mutual growth and continue celebrating our shared successes. These partnerships align with our broader strategy of fostering national pride and contributing to the development of sports in Malaysia," said Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, chief executive officer of airlines (MAG).

"We are pleased to continue our relationship with Malaysia Airlines, whose consistent support over the years have played a pivotal role in helping us focus on our matches, both in Malaysia and abroad," said Alistair Edwards, CEO, JDTFC.

"The ongoing collaboration with Malaysia Airlines helps ensure the smooth execution of travel arrangements for league events. We appreciate their continued commitment and look forward to another productive three years," added Ab Ghani Hassan, president of the MFL.

Similarly, Malaysia Airlines and Manchester United have inked a multi-year partnership which will see the airline become the club’s official commercial airline.

The partnership was announced by Malaysia Airlines’ group managing director of Malaysia Aviation Group, Izham Ismail, at an industry trade fair in Kuala Lumpur earlier in March this year.

To celebrate the announcement, former Manchester United defenders Patrice Evra and Wes Brown flew to Kuala Lumpur to attend the event, to share their experiences of travelling the world as both players and ambassadors for the club.
