M1's Vincent Ruaz takes on North Asia role with L'Oréal

Vincent Ruaz, the deputy director, brand and digital marketing for M1 has left to join L'Oréal as chief digital and marketing officer, media director, North Asia overseeing the whole portfolio of brands covering China, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Ruaz (pictured) spent two years with the Singapore telco, joining in 2019 as GM, digital marketing before taking on the role of GM, brand and digital marketing.
Under his watch at M1, the telco clinched the gold award for Best Employee Engagement Strategy at MARKETING-INTERACTIVE's Loyalty & Engagement Awards 2021 for its campaign M1 Brand Transformation done in collaboration with The Teeth. Under his guidance, his team also clinched three awards at MARKETING-INTERACTIVE's Hashtag Asia Awards 2021, recognising its efforts for Best User-Generated Content, Best Social Amplification Engagement Campaign, and Best Social Engagement Tools or Programmes: Chatbots.
Ruaz also worked with the team to refresh the M1 brand which is said to mark the "rebirth of the telco with a reinvigorated goal" to become Singapore’s first digital network operator. The telco also unveiled its new brand promise "Made to measure" and aims to reinforce its commitment to be a customer-centric company, delivering bespoke products that are tailored to meet the specific needs of its customers.
Before M1, Ruaz was with Publicis Singapore as head of digital lab, Asia Pacific. During his three years there, he is responsible for managing and growing Publicis Digital Lab in the region.
Ruaz has a wealth of experience in the China market, having helmed roles including digital marketing and CRM manager at Laboratoire Bioderma China, digital strategy manager for the Avène brand under Pierre Fabre, and account planner at Publicis Shanghai. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to L'Oréal and M1 for comment.
Last year, L'Oréal reorganised its geographical zones, grouping mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea under North Asia led by Fabrice Megarbane. This is in addition to his role as CEO of L'Oréal China. Meanwhile, a new zone named SAPMENA was formed comprising South Asia and the Middle East/North Africa zone, which is currently led by Vismay Sharma. A new sub-Saharan zone was also created.
More recently, L'Oréal's Hong Kong CMO, Larry Luk, left to join Esprit as chief digital and marketing officer after five years.
