Leo Burnett Hong Kong has appointed Issac Ku (pictured) as its new group creative director, succeeding William Chow. Within his new role, Ku will report to Christopher Lee, executive creative director, Publicis Groupe Hong Kong.

Ku will be the creative lead for Standard Chartered Hong Kong. He will also be responsible for elevating the creative strategy and bringing forward more innovative ideas to Standard Chartered Hong Kong.

Ku recently relocated from Shanghai to Hong Kong, with his previous role as creative director at AKQA. Prior to AKQA, he was the senior creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai. He had also helmed various senior creative roles at BBH Shanghai and Isobar Shanghai.

Meanwhile, Chow is open to any exciting opportunities that come his way, particularly in areas such as banking and finance. “I'm ready to venture into a new category of accounts, start my own agency, or even launch a business that's completely unrelated to marketing and communication. Who knows what the future holds?” he told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

Chow said: “I would describe 2023 as a year of transition for many parties following the Standard Chartered global pitch in early 2022. TBWA was moving toward a new era of management and seizing new opportunities. Publicis Groupe and Standard Chartered were both adapting to new culture and new personnel, working together to take the brand to greater heights.”

“As for myself, transitioning from TBWA to Publicis Groupe as a creative lead, I believe we did an admirable job leveraging our experience and in-depth understanding of SCB, combined with fresh creative insights from the agency, to enhance the quality of work amidst the challenges of change and an unstable economic environment,” he added.

He reports to Tom Kao, CEO of Publicis Groupe Hong Kong. He will also be collaborating with Ed Booty, chief strategy officer at Publicis Groupe APAC & MEA who works across all APAC markets.

Smith brings over 20 years of strategic expertise to Publicis Groupe Hong Kong and a passion for innovative approaches to creating great works. Smith will drive business transformation and integrated solutions by putting data, creativity, media, commerce, CRM and technology together.
