The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International has announced a new multi-year partnership that will bring LEGO Pokémon to fans for the first time from 2026.

Since the debut of the Pokémon franchise, fans have dreamed of becoming Pokémon trainers, with the collaboration set to take the fan experience further. The new partnership will bring the world of Pokémon to life in new ways, allowing fans to build beloved Pokémons in LEGO brick form.

Accompanying the announcement is a 13-second teaser where yellow LEGO bricks can be seen forming the iconic lightning-shaped tail of Pokémon's beloved Pikachu character.

Details of the collaboration such as when the new sets would be available, and which characters would be featured have yet to be revealed.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to LEGO Group for more information.

Speaking to the collaboration, Julia Goldin, chief product and marketing officer at the LEGO Group said "We are thrilled to be working with a brand that has such a deep and passionate fanbase as Pokémon, partnering to give our joint audiences what they have been asking us for."

"We strongly believe that through the endless possibilities of LEGO play and the exciting adventures the world of Pokémon brings, this partnership will create a range of new possibilities for trainers and builders alike," she added.

Meanwhile, Gaku Susai, chief product and experience officer at The Pokémon Company said both brands have strong shared values of imagination, creativity and fun, making this the perfect partnership to deliver unique, meaningful and engaging ways for fans to experience the Pokémon brand.

"Working with the best-in-class team at the LEGO Group and seeing their dedication and passion for the project has culminated in an innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans. We cannot wait to see both LEGO fans and the Pokémon community’s reactions in 2026," added Susai.

Prior to this multi-year partnership, LEGO Group has collaborated with plenty of notable franchises within pop culture. This includes the likes of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, Disney, Fast and Furious and Jurassic Park amongst others. The partnership with Pokémon, however, marks the toymaker's first time collaborating with the Japanese video game franchise.

Pokémon, on the other hand, has partnered with numerous brands in its 29-year history. This includes collaboration with Oreo and Le Creuset.

Closer to home, it collaborated with Pos Malaysia to release a special edition stamp set.
