L’Occitane HK debuts first hair lab to raise awareness of hair loss issues

L'Occitane has launched its first-ever pop up concept Botanical Hair Lab in Hong Kong to raise awareness of hair loss issues among Hongkongers. 

Situated at Langham Place, Mong Kok, the hair lab is expected to become a new hot check-in destination in the city, offering consumers a customised experience with its new product “Anti Hair Loss Serum”.

The hair lab targets both women and men above 25 years old who may have hair concern, including suffering hair loss, potential to have hair loss problem with impact from different lifestyle.

Available until 14 July, the brand invites consumers to visit the hair lab to receive a free professional scalp analysis service and scalp massage tutorial, along with drinks made with natural herbs from a botanical mocktail bar.

Furthermore, in support of local upcycled art creation, the hair lab will showcase the eco-art installation "Tresses of the Willow" by local upcycling designer Wink Atelier.

This sculpture is made from recycled plastic bottles and inspired by the brand's philosophy and Aromachologie hair care collection. The willow represents hair strands, embodying how hair, resembling trees in nature, which can grow, become resilient and regenerate under nourishment of the nature. Waste transformed into beautiful forms highlights the transformation and renewal of healthy hair, accentuating the elegance of sustainable choices.

Despite the hair lab experience, the lab also provides customers a plant-printed ECO bag workshop during the campaign time, allowing people to discover the art of plant printing and create personalised, botanical-inspired designs by transferring the natural pigments of plant materials featured in L’Occitane aromatic hair care profile onto ECO bag.

Iris Kan, marketing director, L'Occitane, said: “As an extension of L’Occitane Hotel we’ve held last year, we are thrilled to bring the dedicated and pleasant L'Occitane Botanical Hair Lab experience to our customers. With 40 years of expertise on essential oils and 20 years of experience on skin with clinical measurements, L’Occitane approach on hair care is to go beyond what meets the eye to optimise hair’s natural potential.

"We would love for everyone to come and experience how a natural beauty brand such as L’Occitane can be pampering and show transformative power on hair care from scalp to tips, all while remaining incredibly sustainable and environmentally responsible," she added.

The campaign has been promoted via several channels, including out-of-home placements, third-party social media postings, health articles and on-target seeding. The lab also invited KOL during the launch to try the hair experience.
