K-pop girl group Blackpink's member Jisoo's surprise appearance ahead of her fan meet in Hong Kong last Saturday has seen a spike in conversations across social platforms.

According to media intelligence firm CARMA, Jisoo's surprise visit to Causeway Bay ahead of her fan meet generated over 20K mentions across social media platforms.

Sentiment analysis showed a positive response, with 54.8% of mentions reflecting positive sentiment, said CARMA. However, a small fraction (1%) expressed dissatisfaction, particularly on LIHKG, where users criticised the event's organisation, citing delays in purchasing and unclear information about stock availability and purchase limits.

The event organiser Lee Gardens Hong Kong made a surprise announcement on 29 March, revealing Jisoo’s exclusive pop-up store at Hysan Place. The organiser invited visitors and fans to step into the cinematic world of jisoo as her album “Amortage” comes to life in this grand pop-up experience.

Inspired by the album’s theme, the store recreates a classic cinema setting—from a vintage ticket booth to a movie poster wall and even a popcorn corner, perfect for capturing unforgettable moments. Furthermore, there were a lot of viral photos and videos of Jisoo making a flash appearance at the pop-up store, a check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE saw on Instagram.

Dressed in a striped shirt and black skirt, Jisoo arrived at around 4.55pm, waving to fans and journalists while showing the iconic Korean heart gesture, according to The Standard. Despite her brief visit, followers were still able to snap selfies with their beloved idol at the pop-up store, which featured four themed photo spots inspired by her latest solo record, Amortage.

This comes as the Korean star started travelling across major regions as part of her Asia Fan Tour 2025, including Macau, Taipei, and Tokyo. For her trip to Hong Kong, the star held two days of fan meetings at the AsiaWorld-Expo between 28 and 29 March.

Blackpink has gathered a massive global fanbase since the group became active in 2016. The group has become the female group with the highest-grossing tour, making US$78.5 million (105 billion won) in 2022 from its world tour titled, “Born Pink", luring over 2.11 million fans across 66 shows in 24 countries, according to Korea Times
