ITO EN has unveiled outdoor advertisement placements featuring the Los Angelas Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani, at more than 85 locations in Japan and abroad.

This comes as the brand has appointed Ohtani as the global ambassador of its unsweetened green tea beverage brand “Oi Ocha”.

The giant outdoor advertisements are designed to attract many viewers and convey to the world ITO EN and Ohtani's shared desire to spread Japan's fascinating green tea culture to the world, according to the press release.

Starting with an advertisement at Morioka Station in Iwate Prefecture, Ohtani’s home area, on 31 May, the advertisements will appear at 82 other locations in Japan in 12 prefectures, including Sapporo, Morioka, Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, as well as the JR Shibuya station area in the Japanese capital.

Meanwhile, giant bottles containing “Ohtani’s new haiku” (short Japanese poem) will appear on the pillars at Shibuya and Nagoya stations in Japan, commemorating Ohtani's appointment as ITO EN’s Oi Ocha global ambassador.

In addition, out-of-home ads will be showcased in six other locations worldwide, including the US, South Korea, and Taiwan. The advertisements will be displayed at Times Square from 8 to 10 June (local time).

To expand the reach of the campaign, it is amplified via Ohtani’s appearance in 60 newspapers worldwide. The brand will publish a letter of encouragement from Japan to Ohtani in LA in local and overseas newspapers such as Nikkei Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun, NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, and Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Ohtani expresses his honour to collaborate with ITO EN, a brand he has always been interested in. He believes that his positive personality aligns well with the brand’s principle to share a soothing experience with everyone around the world.

“I was thrilled to hear that my love for ‘Oi Ocha’ and my frequent consumption of it resonated with ITO EN, which led to this opportunity,” said Ohtani.
