IKEA is a brand known for its cheeky nature and now its trend jacked the recent conversation going viral on social with KK Plus.

Following the public outcry over the toddler accidentally smashing one of KK Plus' life sized Teletubby, IKEA HK decided to post a picture of the BILLY bookshelf and encouraged parents in Hong Kong to bring their children to its furniture store. In a post on its Facebook page, the Swedish retailer took on the personality of the BILLY bookshelf and said in the picture: " 家長們放心...我固定好哂,小朋友推唔跌我㗎 " - where it essentially tries to get across the sturdiness of its book shelf.

The post also added: "唔單止我,我喺IKEA店內嘅兄弟們,只要係可以固定嘅話,我哋都固定晒。所以家長們,即管帶你哋極活躍嘅小朋友嚟啦!"to further encourage parents to  "feel free to bring [their] active kids [to the store]!”

A quick check on the post by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, saw that many netizens enjoyed the post and the brand received positive sentiments on socials. Many praised IKEA on its fast job of trendjacking the KK Plus situation.

Meanwhile, Po Lin Monastery in Lantau Island also took a jab at KK Plus with a photo of the appearance of the massive statue, stating that the statue is strong and firm and that “it will never be knocked over”.

Since the incident went viral, KK Plus’s operator and parent company Kidsland International has also stepped in to issue a full refund and apology amid heated debate on social platforms regarding a toddler knocking over a Teletubby figure worth over HK$50,000. In an interview with local press, Kidsland International apologised to the affected family and confirmed the refund fully to the parents.

Its statement released on 24 May 2022, which led to much unhappiness and stirred up a debate online has also now been deleted.
