Henderson Land Group’s visions of dream cities have begat awards, namely the glitzy International Finance Centre (ifc), the splendid Caine Hill, and the latest landmark designed by the revered Zaha Hadid Architects – The Henderson. Now, it welcomes HongKongers to go to their own drawing boards and turn visions into realities in the “Realising Your Imagination” creative competition.
Paying homage to the eponymous brand manifesto plus the developer’s devotion to empowering a city that nurtures sustainability, innovation and its people, the competition welcomes contestants to take inspiration from Henderson Land’s projects and developments shaping the cityscape and to unleash their imagination through multimedia digital artwork depicting an ideal community, a city of the future or a dream way of life.
The contestants won’t be doing it alone.
Henderson Land has also invited reputable multimedia artists to strut their creative muscles as means to offer inspiration. These prolific Hong Kong artists include photographer and interior designer Timmy Lo; Derry Ainsworth, designer, digital artist as well as the photographer and designer for the poster of the “Realising Your Imagination” creative competition; independent filmmaker and special effects designer, Ben Mok; artist and writer Sharmaine Kwan; and Hong Kong-based French artist Romain Nicolosi.
Martin Lee Ka Shing, chairman of Henderson Land Group, said, “Henderson Land has always devoted itself to building communities, promoting social development, integrating the old with the new, and injecting new energy into our city. The ’Realising Your Imagination’ creative competition hopes to offer the public a better understanding of our brand’s devotion not only to innovation, sustainability and people, but also to encouraging communal imagination while promoting projects and developments that make our city, our life and our future better and brighter.”
Split into “public” and “student” groups, the competition welcomes submissions of all digital works to their campaign website until 28 February. Winning works may be displayed on Henderson Land’s “Realising Your Imagination” online exhibition. First place winners will each take home flights and accommodation to Europe; the first, second and third place winners, as well as the recipients of the special awards of the two respective categories, will receive merit prizes worth over HK$380,000 in total.
