Singapore-based duty-free and travel retail operator Heinemann Asia Pacific has opened its first store in Macau, representing its plan to diversify its retail sales channels and further expanding its footprint in Greater China.

The store, located at the H853 shopping mall of Lisboeta Macau, started operating on 23 October. Spanning 780 square feet, the store offers a wide range of perfumes, cosmetics and confectionery products across over 40 premium and luxury brands curated to appeal to family travelers.

“We are delighted to open our first ever downtown shop in APAC in Macau, a top tourist destination in the region and one of the first to benefit from the gradual reopening of mainland China’s borders. We are excited about our partnership with Lisboeta Macau and look forward to growing our business together with them,” said Johannes Sammann, chief operating officer of Heinemann Asia Pacific.

The new store is Heinemann Asia Pacific's latest addition in Greater China. Previously, Heinemann has operated the confectionery concession at Hong Kong International Airport under the brand name Sweet Dreams by Heinemann since 2018, and manages its distribution partnerships out of Shanghai. While this is Heinemann’s first directly operated retail shop in Macau, the retailer has had a longstanding distribution partnership with Chinese luxury fashion group Canudilo which operates Esscents Duty Free.

"The debut of Heinemann at Lisboeta Macau offers a variety of international cosmetics and perfumes, accessories and confectionery, appealing to all age groups. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Heinemann for believing in us - we are honoured to partner with one of the world’s foremost travel retail industry leaders, and together we are excited to contribute to a brand new chapter in Macau’s vibrant retail offering," said Christine Hong Barbosa, vice president of retail business development at Lisboeta Macau.

To welcome shoppers, Heinemann Asia Pacific will feature brand partners such as French luxury skincare group Clarins and home and body brand Rituals, presenting a pop-up store focused on its exclusive luxury home collection.
