HBO Asia will be launching its HBO GO streaming service in Malaysia in May exclusively on Astro. HBO GO features a library of original versions of all HBO Original content from Asia and the US. Currently available in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore, HBO GO will be launching in more Asian territories. Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia said the launch of the online streaming service extends its long partnership with Astro and brings its library of content closer to subscribers. Meanwhile, Agnes Rozario, Astro’s director of content said the latest collaboration further enables Astro to unlock thousands of assets comprising both Hollywood movies and HBO Originals from around the world across all Astro platforms and soon on HBO GO. “We’re thrilled about expanding our exclusive partnership with HBO who has brought us Game of Thrones, and a string of hits and talked about originals, such as Big Little Lies and Westworld, in addition to Hollywood blockbusters. Being amongst the earliest supporters of Astro, HBO content has helped drive engagement for on demand viewing amongst our connected customers," she added. This comes shortly after Game of Thrones season premiere was unveiled HBO, Astro on demand, Astro GO and NJOI Now. Malaysians including non-Astro customers were provided with access to the series as well as other HBO originals via HBO Game of Thrones Pass. The latest season of Game of Thrones was met with social media hype, with brands marrying their brand stories with the world of Westeros.
