Hang Seng Bank unveils new 'future banking' concept to drive innovation

Hang Seng Bank has launched a new "Future Banking" service concept upon the launch of its new branch in Festival Walk. The opening saw the launch of three "first-in-market" service and operation solutions, reflecting the bank's effort to continually innovate for future banking while putting the consumer front and centre.

The new branch features one of the first Smart Tellers in the city, which combines a personalised service model with leading edge digital technologies. Customers can use the smart banking counter located in the lobby of the new branch to conduct most types of banking services, including Hong Kong dollar, Renminbi and US dollar cash deposits of banknotes. The digital branch service executive can provide assistance with most personal account-related enquiries, which removes the need to wait for traditional teller counters.

The "Future Banking" concept also puts strong emphasis on the ability to personalise e-banking services. As such, the bank will launch a Simple Mode of Hang Seng Mobile App in late July. Featuring a clear and easier-to-use interface for conducting basic digital banking services, the app supports greater digital service inclusivity by offering customers different options, depending on their preferences, needs and digital savvy.

Simple Mode also includes a function that enables customers to contact bank staff directly in cases of suspicious bank or credit card activity, representing Hang Seng 's commitment to investing in enhanced customer protection and actively supporting regulators and law enforcement agencies in combatting fraud.

With sustainability being one of Hang Seng's key strategic priorities, the new branch also leverages eco-friendly design elements, including a special 'CO2 Reduction System' that reduces the level of carbon dioxide in the branch using an aquatic microalgae reactor.

Furthermore, new uniform will also be introduced at all Hang Seng branches this quarter. The new uniform is made of eco-friendly, light and comfortable materials, and the vibrant green colour reflects Hang Seng's energetic image.

Commenting on the initiative, Diana Cesar, executive director and chief executive at Hang Seng Bank, said, "Our 'Future Banking' service concept has been developed to meet the future needs of our customers. Our innovative approach, coupled with the adoption of advanced technologies and sustainable development philosophy, allows us to offer our diverse customer base creative, caring and forward-looking banking services. The opening of our new branch in Festival Walk also marks the beginning of our 'Future Banking' service commitment, which is fully aligned with Hang Seng's brand values."
