WPP's Grey Group has appointed Sarah Trombetta as its chief client officer for P&G, Asia, Middle East & Africa. Based in Australia. Trombetta (pictured) will be part of WPP/Grey's P&G Global Leadership Team, working closely with the president international and global COO of Grey Group, Nirvik Singh and the president of Grey global clients and business leadership for P&G, WPP, Debby Reiner. Trombetta will be taking over executive VP, P&G leader AMA at Grey Group, Yashaswini Samat, who will continue to support the business transition until the end of the year.
In her role, Trombetta will be in charge of establishing the strategic direction of the P&G business across key regions, leading the integrated strategies and creative ambitions for its iconic brands. With over 20 years of experience in advertising across several continents, including Asia Pacific, Europe, and Australia, Trombetta joins from her last role as CEO of Red Havas, where she spent the previous two years in charge of the network's flagship Australian market.
According to the agency, this move marks a return to WPP's Grey Group for Trombetta as she was previously the CEO of Grey Group, Hong Kong from 2015 to 2019. Under her leadership, the agency transformed its end-to-end digital marketing services solutions for Greater China's largest clients, bringing social commerce, advertising, retail, and activation together to deliver growth for many global brands. The brands include P&G's Pantene, Gillette, Olay, Downy and Always, HSBC, Hong Kong Tourism Board and GSK. Prior to that, she also held board-level positions in APAC and the UK at H+K Strategies, another WPP global agency.
"We are beyond thrilled to welcome Sarah back. She is an awarded agency leader, who has had success building global brands in multiple countries, and her track record for transformation and growth is highly impressive," said Singh. According to him, Trombetta is a client-focused business leader and strategic thinker who inspires with her energy and vision. He added that the agency was confident that Trombetta will lean into the changes on how brands go-to-market across key regions, drawing on the agency's talent and capabilities.
At the same time, Singh also addressed Samat's departure and said she has made a big impact throughout its network and inspired the next generation of Grey Group, P&G leadership. "I wish to thank her for all her hard work, mentorship, guidance and loyalty through the years and wish her well in all her future endeavours," he said.
Meanwhile, Grey Hong Kong made four new appointments earlier this month. Duffy Lau, business partner and director of Integration, has been named general manager, Grey Hong Kong. Lau joined Grey in 2014 as an associate account director and has worked closely with multiple client brands and played an instrumental role in leading the new business growth, especially in China. He has also successfully added several new brands on to the Grey Hong Kong roster including Pantene, Olay, Whisper, Tampax, Braun, Gillette, Downy and Tide.
