Technology company Google has recently named Karen Teo (pictured left) as its new vice president of Android partnerships for the APAC region.
Teo took to her LinkedIn to announce the news on 3 July with a post and the caption, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a position as VP, Android partnerships APAC at Google. It's a privilege to join the ranks of the people before me who have built and grown Android to become the most used mobile operating system in the world, and I am excited to contribute alongside them.”
She then ended off by saying, “Since today is my first day, I shall be starting on my learning journey first”.
Prior to her new stint at Google, Teo spent just over nine years at Meta, where she rose from head of gaming sales for the greater China region to vice president of global business group for the APAC region, where she honed her business strategy, sales and leadership skills.

Prior to Meta, Teo was at Microsoft for over five years and rose up the ranks from being the product marketing manager of Xbox for the Southeast Asian market at Microsoft to senior account manager for global partner and third- party publishing, where she identified novel business opportunities with partners and acquired gaming platform content. Teo also analysed consumer trends in the Asia Pacific region to drive global policies and teamed up with the online marketing tools team to drive downloads and attach to online products, according to her LinkedIn page.
Teo also held the role of co-founder and account director for Quirkx Communications for over five years, where she was put in charge of business development and successfully expanded the company’s services to the marketing needs of its clients in merchandising, events management, as well as above-the-line and below-the-line support. She also managed film collaborations with studios and distributors for marketing and promotions which include The Fast and the Furious, The Hulk, Lord of the Rings and Austin Powers Gold Member.
The news comes just as Google Cloud Malaysia appoints Patrick Wee as the country manager of Google Cloud Malaysia.
He will be reporting to Megawaty Khie, who is the regional director of Google Cloud Indonesia and Malaysia. She oversees Google Cloud’s enterprise, public sector, and corporate mid-market business segments in both countries.
In his role, Wee will be responsible for leading local go-to-market operations for Google Cloud and Google Workspace, and collaborating with teams across Google to help companies digitally transform their business with enterprise-grade solutions and cutting-edge technology.
