Kevin Aluwi (pictured), co-founder and CEO of Gojek, will step down from his role and join Goto's board of commissioners. In his new role, Aluwi will support GoTo’s senior leaders in delivering the company’s vision and mission and work to empower progress for everyone in the GoTo ecosystem and the communities where it operates.

At the same time, Aluwi will continue to represent Gojek in the electric vehicle space in support of the company’s commitment to zero emissions by 2030. To that end, he will become a commissioner at Electrum, a joint venture between Gojek and TBS Energi Utama that aims to build an integrated and holistic two-wheel EV ecosystem in Indonesia.

Aluwi has been with Gojek for over eight years, first joining as chief financial ojek in 2014. Prior to joining Gojek, he was head of business intelligence at Zalora Indonesia for over two years and, before that, business development manager and Merah Putih for close to a year.

Aluwi said that, as a member of the board of commissioners, he will continue to be involved at a strategic level with GoTo management, and also have more time to explore his personal interests within the technology space. "I’m a builder at heart and I’m deeply passionate about how technology can be used to move the world to a better place; some areas I’m particularly excited to be more involved in are web3, gaming, and climate tech," he added.

Meanwhile, GoTo Group CEO Andre Soelistyo will assume Aluwi's roles and responsibilities, working closely with Gojek's leadership team to execute GoTo's on-demand strategy, the company said in a statement.

Soelistyo has been with the company since 2015 when he joined as president of Gojek. He was later named CEO of GoTo Financial and GoTo Group in May last year. Prior to joining Gojek, Soelistyo was executive director at Northstar Group and, before that, head of corporate finance at Delta Dunia Makmur.

Aluwi added, "We have invested significantly in building a diverse management team with a strong work ethic and a deep understanding of our values, and I am confident that they, under Andre’s steady leadership, will continue executing the strategy that has turned on-demand services into such a powerful part of the GoTo Group."

This transition is subject to approval at the company's annual general meeting of shareholders on 28 June.

Last year saw Ainul Yaqin step down from his role as CMO, Gojek to take on the role of vice president marketing, beauty and personal care at Unilever Indonesia. His return to Unilever comes as the previous beauty and personal care director, Tran Tue Tri exits the firm. Jasper Distel, Gojek's SVP, group head international marketing, also joined Nike as EMEA marketing director consumer direct last September. Distel joined GoJek as the VP, group head of integrated media lab in 2018. He helmed the position for a year where he built a regional digital marketing, media, and sponsorship team, his LinkedIn said.

Separately, Gojek partnered with martech firm TenMax.io last August to provide artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for the ride-hailing company's ad network GoGAN. The AI solution will aid in delivering ad services to consumer brands, merchants, and ad agencies of all sizes in Indonesia. According to Gojek, the tie-up will enable brands, agencies, and merchants to access a one-stop advertising solution to plan, measure, and optimise their digital marketing efforts across social media and content sites.
