Gay Games Hong Kong has appointed Ruder Finn Interactive (RFI) Asia, the branding and digital arm of global communications consultancy Ruder Finn, as its official marketing and public relations partner for Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2023 (GGHK).

RFI Asia will oversee all aspects of communications for the GGHK, including branding, social media, internal communications and media relations.

Gay Games 11 Hong Kong will take place from November 3 to 11, 2023. Under the theme “Unity in Diversity”, the Games will feature a wide variety of sporting events, opening and closing ceremonies, arts and culture events, as well as a festival village.

Supporting organisations include the Equal Opportunities Commission, InvestHK, BrandHK and the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Platinum sponsors are Marriott Bonvoy and YouTube.

For almost 40 years, the Games have taken place around the world and are about bringing people together through sports, arts and culture. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, or background.

Lisa Lam, co-chair of GGHK, said: “We are thrilled to partner with RFI and their talented team. Their communications expertise and background align well with the Games' ambition to promote a diverse and inclusive society, and we look forward to working together to continue to bring awareness to this not-to-be-missed event.”

GGHK has also appointed David Ko, managing director of RFI Asia, to serve as the director of marketing and communications for the event, reporting to co-chairs Lisa Lam and Alan Lang.

In this role, Ko will lead the development and implementation of marketing and PR strategies for the Games. “It is an honour to support the GGHK. Our ambition is to promote a diverse and inclusive society, bringing communities to share moments of joy through sports, arts and cultural events,” Ko said.

With 22 sporting events planned, including newly added contests like Dragon Boat Racing, Mahjong and Trail Running, it is anticipated the event will draw 7,000 participants and more than 25,000 visitors to Hong Kong.
