Foreign investments unaffected despite Palestine stance, says Anwar Ibrahim

Prime minister Anwar Ibrahim said that Malaysia's political stance has not stopped Western and foreign countries from investing in Malaysia.
"Various foreign investments into Malaysia also prove that the government's loud voice on humanitarian issues does not prevent investors from continuing to sow faith in the Malaysian economy," said Anwar in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.
These humanitarian issues include Malaysia's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The prime minister made these comments at the MADANI fasting ceremony at Polytech MARA college.
Regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, Anwar reportedly said that Malaysia would not be cowed in its condemnation of the Israeli aggression and occupation of Palestine. He also reportedly condemned many Western countries for being selective in defending human rights, especially in the Gaza war.
In his speech, the prime minister informed that there are "several mega projects in Perak that are capable of lifting the state as a catalyst for the country's economic growth."
Some of these projects include Tanjung Malim's Automotive High Tech Valley (AHTV), Lumut Maritime Industrial City (Lumic) and Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park. These projects, added Anwar, will drive the country's economy to emerge as a great power in the Asian region.
He reportedly added that Malaysia has entered agreements with countries such as Australia, China, India, Japan, Germany and the United States during his recent visits there, attributing their confidence to the country’s political stability.
Earlier last week, Anwar shared that there is a new and improved image of Malaysia at the international level. The image is in light of improvements to the country's governance, as well as the assistance shown by civil servants to investors.
“They described our policies and our civil servants as being positive and I am thankful and proud to be working with such civil servants because their reception has been extraordinary," said Anwar.
Anwar added that during his recent official visit to Germany, he received feedback from foreign companies and investors who are impressed by the country's efficiency, lack of leakages and decision-making.
“I did question if there were problems or if (the dealings) were delayed or if they were asked to give commissions but their replies were great and it made me feel better," said Anwar.
“If we can continue with this attitude, believe me, we will be able to boost our economy. I am confident of this."
