In celebration of its 10th anniversary, foodpanda Hong Kong has partnered with three local artists to reminisce the brand's decade-long innovation and achievements with Hongkongers.
The partnership features three murals located in Central, created by local artists Bao Ho, Bo Law, and Rebecca Lin. These artists, who are also foodpanda users, illustrate foodpanda's innovative evolution from a food delivery service to a one-stop shop lifestyle platform that enriches the public’s daily life in the city, said foodpanda HK's spokesperson in a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.
The artists’ interpretation of the food delivery platform as well as their own experiences are also expressed through their artwork. Available from 5 October until 31 October, the murals provide interactive experiences for the public, allowing them to unlock discount codes by scanning NFC stickers embedded in the artwork, added the spokesperson.
"This special collaboration demonstrates foodpanda's ongoing commitment to the local arts and culture scene, and serves to enhance community connections, as it not only beautifies the urban landscape but also promotes Hong Kong's rich food culture," the spokesperson added.
Foodpanda Hong Kong has always been supportive of the local cultural development, including ad campaigns, promotional offers, and sponsorship of performance events. The murals created by the three artists each have their own unique style, conveying the message of how foodpanda is catering to Hong Kong people’s food and lifestyle culture in the past 10 years.
Foodpanda’s most iconic paper bags are also incorporated into the three murals, showcasing that foodpanda has transformed "bags of life" over the past decade, such as ordering food with families, enjoying some rice noodles after work and preparing hotpot with friends.
Ho is known for her vibrant paintings that capture the interplay between characters, animals, and food, embellished with intricate details. Her mural features a family having a heartwarming meal delivered by foodpanda. A closer look reveals that the depicted eatery is 日之苑, a longstanding partner of foodpanda for a decade.
Through a distinctive fisheye perspective, Law portrays a bustling Hong Kong street scene that captures the essence of foodpanda's diverse self-pickup service. Using the signature pink colour of foodpanda as a backdrop, Law's work showcases customers carrying the brand's paper bags filled with delectable meals. His intricate brushwork brings scenes to life, including Hongkongers' favourites such as rice noodles, steamed buns, and sushi, reflecting people's spirit of "辛苦搵嚟志在食".
Meanwhile, Lin is known for her nostalgic portrayals of Hong Kong stories. Based in Sai Kung, she always relies on food delivery by foodpanda. Lin cherishes communication with the delivery personnel, fostering a sense of community with her local district's courier.
Her mural depicts a group of friends preparing for a hotpot gathering facilitated by foodpanda delivery, showing how foodpanda seamlessly caters to the diverse needs of Hong Kong residents around the clock.
