foodpanda hires GroupM head of eCommerce to build advertising partnerships

Foodpanda has appointed Toni Ruotanen as its director of advertising and partnerships for the Asia Pacific region. Foodpanda did not respond to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE's queries on the role.
According to a post on LinkedIn, Ruotanen said he will be helping advertisers, partners and brands grow their business. "Be it that they are merchants on foodpanda or want to leverage the unique audience foodpanda platform offers across Asia-Pacific to drive traffic to their brand or just do branding. The opportunities using the platform are endless," he explained. Ruotanen was previously with GroupM, last helming in the role of head of commerce for APAC for almost two years. During his time at GroupM, he led the group’s eCommerce investment in APAC. Where the company defined, developed and deployed an end-to-end service offering to serve its global and regional clients consistently in their growth efforts online.
In addition, he was also covering consulting services, and digital marketing and offered store management and fulfilment services. As well as enabling the GroupM agencies such as Essence, Medicom, Mindshare, m/SIX, NEO World and Wavemaker – to service the agency's client’s needs.
Before GroupM, he held the role of head of strategic project management at Lazada Singapore, where he was tasked with the responsibility for the RedMart Channel and the New Retail projects for the company. Ruotanen describes himself as a builder and creator with experiences in business development, marketing, customer experience and operational execution/management.
His appointment came soon after when Laura Kantor, marketing and sustainability director at foodpanda wrapped after six years with the company. Kantor, who was a prominent figure in the foodpanda and marketing circle in Singapore, made the announcement on LinkedIn. Kantor joined the role in 2016 as head of marketing and expanded her remit over the years. Kantor joined the role from Ogilvy where she was account director. She also spent over three years at Bupa. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to foodpanda for a statement.
