Social commerce platform TikTok has been testing a new feature that automatically identifies objects in all videos and allows them to be shoppable.
The new feature is an early-stage experiment with limited availability to a small subset of users, said a TikTok spokesperson in conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

With the new feature, viewers will be provided with the option to find similar items they see in the posts they engage with through a page of products on TikTok Shop, according to Bloomberg.
TikTok’s latest move will add to its existing shoppable options that were previously only available to approved influencers and brands who could tag products on their content.
The feature has been in an early test phase in the US with no announcement of an international rollout at the moment.
TikTok has constantly revamped the app experience and was recently selected to be part of the Health Promotion Board Singapore’s (HPB) vape-free campaign media strategy with a new ad format.
As part of the campaign, an interactive ad format was created to allow users to select between two different scenarios to better engage with the educational content of the ad.
When the ad pops up, it asks the user to put themselves into the shoes of someone who has a friend who serial vapes and which message they would prefer to share with them to help break the habit.
