Edison Labs partners Searching C to tap into HK and TW markets with new product

Japanese company Edison Labs has partnered up with APAC eCommerce platform Searching C to tap into the Hong Kong and Taiwan markets with the launch of a smart bag called SchuBELT.

The SchuBELT has retractable straps that allows it to be both a backpack, shoulder bag and handbag to aid travellers on their journeys and has been overfunded by 180 times on crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Henry Kwok, co-founder of Searching C said the partnership aims to bring the innovative product SchuBELT from Japan to a wider group of audience, including Hong Kong and Japan. "As a Hong Kong eCommerce platform with a focus on assisting quality brands to launch their innovative products in the Asia-Pacific areas, we hope to leverage our local expertise and market knowledge to allow more consumers to get to know the creative design of the SchuBELT," the spokesperson added. 

Hong Kong and Taiwan were both chosen for the launch as they are both regarded as fast-growing fashion markets, and receptive to innovative products, according to Kwok. "As for availability in other markets, that is definitely in our pipeline, and we are currently evaluating internally," he added.

The partnership will be promoted through a variety of channels with a focus on online platforms. With a backup of data analysis, Searching C would be able to match the launch of SchuBELT with target audience effectively.

In terms of how Searching C will be measuring the returns of investment (ROI) for the partnership, Kwok added that a combination of metrics that include sales figures, website traffic and social media engagement rates are to be used. “In addition, our platform will also customer surveys to gather feedback on the product and the campaign as a whole,” he continued.
