Unilever’s Dove has inked an interesting partnership with Gong cha Malaysia, popular bubble tea chain, to curate limited-edition drinks inspired by the Cloud Foam. This comes as the Dove brand launches its range of self-foaming body wash.
According to Wenqi Sim, senior brand manager, Dove Skin Malaysia and Singapore, to bring to life the concept of self-foaming body washes in the new Dove Cloud Foam Body Wash series – with three different variants (Peach, Sakura and Deep Moisture) - three different limited-edition drinks were created. The locally driven campaign will run throughout November and is exclusively inked with Gong cha Malaysia outlets (except for in Sabah).
Malaysia is also among the first few countries in this region to launch the Dove premium self-foaming body wash series. As part of the campaign, Dove also identified and delivered a special indulgent kit to 50 Malaysian personalities and influencers, to pamper and indulge themselves with a bottle of the brand-new Dove Cloud Foam Body Wash for a luxurious bath and a cup of Gong Cha inspired by it.
When asked the inspiration behind the campaign, Sim shared that findings shared by Shopee said that compared to 2019, Malaysians were six times more interested in purchasing items related to eating well, exercising, personal grooming, and personal hygiene. Shower time is one of the best times of day for the body and mind – to help one relax and unwind – making Malaysia one of the first countries to launch the product.
“We want to empower Malaysian women to make time to care for themselves. We wanted to partner with a brand that appeals to Malaysians and brings about the idea of indulgence, and more importantly, this collaboration centred around the power of innovation to encourage more Malaysians to make time for self-care,” she said.
“Gong Cha fits the ask, and Gong Cha also pioneered the creamy layer of foam drinks in Malaysia. Together, we are two brands that are passionate about making cloud foam to serve fellow Malaysians," Sim added.
