Disney hunts for corporate communications head in Indonesia

The Walt Disney Company is on the hunt for a head of corporate communications in Indonesia. According to the job post on its job portal, the selected candidate will serve as the lead on integrated communications, working with the business and marketing teams to support the brand's growing business while enhancing the reputation of Disney in Indonesia. This includes internal and external communications, public affairs, strategic media relations and issues management.
According to the job description, some of the expected roles of a head of corporate communications include establishing strategic positioning of Disney aligned with business goals; proactively identifying and managing potential issues and opportunities; and providing executive engagement support, including press outreach and speaking opportunities. Additionally, the selected candidate will be tasked with developing and executing strategic, integrated communication plans to support Disney's business goals in Indonesia and to enhance the company's corporate.
The candidate will also work closely with Disney+Hotstar publicity and marketing teams on content promotion and targeted press engagement; as well as with senior executive teams and HR on internal employee engagement programs.
Other duties include designing a proactive and targeted media relations and engagement program aimed at the most influential press outlets and stakeholders; identifying and educating stakeholders, including allies, opinion leaders and third-party experts to support business objectives; and providing strategic communications advice to the business team.

To qualify, the selected candidate will need to have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in public affairs, communications, journalism, government, broadcast communications or other relevant areas; and over 12 years of corporate communications experience dealing with leading brands, high profile government work or agency experience. Additionally, the candidate must also have experience advising and working with senior business and government stakeholders, with deep editor and stakeholder relationships in Indonesia.
The candidate should also have strong knowledge of the local media and consumer landscape - ideally in media and entertainment industries as well - issues and crisis communications experience; and strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence and forge partnerships both internally and externally.
Disney is also looking for someone who is politically savvy, has a high level of corporate professionalism and maturity, and is a team player with experience working with virtual teams across markets and regions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa and English, with computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, is a must. Lastly, the selected candidate should be flexible, resourceful, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment; with demonstrated creative thinking and strong project management skills.
Separately, Disney+ is doubling down on local content with 20 new local APAC content titles, including 18 originals done in collaboration with content creators from Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Greater China, Australia and New Zealand. This comes as part of Disney's ambition to greenlight over 50 APAC originals by 2023. The company will also launch a significant slate of premium branded entertainment on the Disney+ platform in the coming years, including content from its global brand franchises, general entertainment content from Star and local language originals from the APAC region.
Luke Kang, president of The Walt Disney Company, APAC, said that it will combine the global resources of the company with the best content creators in the APAC region to develop and produce original stories on Disney+. Among the list of new titles to be launched include Twisted Wonderland, Susah Sinyal, Tokyo MER, Rookies, Grid and Snowdrop. Disney+ expanded into Indonesia in September last year. It also collaborated with Telkomsel to offer “attractive and affordable” subscription packages to customers in Indonesia.
