Dentsu Group beefs up group management team with new appointments

Dentsu Group has bolstered its group management team by appointing Giulio Malegori (pictured left) as its group chief operating officer and Jean Lin (pictured right) as its group president of global practices at Dentsu Group.

According to the agency, the new appointments were aimed at accelerating growth and driving its transformation to an agile, client-centric organisation. According to its official statement, Dentsu drew upon "two of its most experienced leaders to simplify the business while putting innovation at the heart of everything dentsu delivers for clients".

In this role, Malegori will lead dentsu’s community of regional CEOs and oversee global clients’ growth to optimise dentsu’s client growth strategy and streamline effectiveness in business operations. Malegori’s contributions aim to enable dentsu’s regional and market-based client management teams to deliver exceptional value to customers and key stakeholders. He will also oversee Business Operations and IT, ensuring strong operational excellence.

Malegori has been at dentsu since 2010, when he was elected CEO of the agency’s Italian office, before moving on to his role as regional CEO of denstu Southern Europe. After four years, he moved on to his next role as CEO of dentsu EMEA.

Meanwhile, Lin, in her newly created role, will draw upon her multi-disciplinary industry experience to build the core capabilities and long-term competitiveness of dentsu. She will lead and bring together the key practice areas through dentsu’s existing brands. Lin's expertise will be used to further advance dentsu’s industry-leading knowledge and transformational capabilities, nurturing highly specialised talent, establishing a full range of solutions and a roadmap for internal and external partnerships. 

Lin commenced her journey at dentsu international in 2019 as the global CEO of customer experience and commerce. She also held the role of global CEO of creative and experience from 2019 to 2022 before moving on to being a member of the global executive board in 2016. She remained a member before exiting dentsu international in January this year. 

Hiroshi Igarashi, president and CEO of Dentsu Group, said that with these appointments, Denstu is building a structure which will nurture and connect deep areas of expertise and integrate its service offerings while celebrating its individual network brands.

In APAC, denstu recently appointed Clay Schouest as chief strategy officer of client and solutions in the APAC region. Schouest is leading the strategy and vision for dentsu’s client portfolio, building integrated, end-to-end solutions that deliver client revenue growth, profitability and satisfaction.

Schouest commenced work on 20 September and is currently based in Singapore. His appointment marks his return to the agency and Asia after having worked at dentsu for over 10 years from 2010 to 2021.

During his tenure at dentsu, Schouest climbed up the ranks while holding a range of roles. He began his time at dentsu international in 2010, where held the roles of EMEA communications planning director in London, head of strategy and innovation in China, regional strategy leader of the APAC region and chief strategy officer of the APAC region before becoming the global head of communications panning.
