Deliveroo Hong Kong has formed a partnership with Don Don Donki, marking the Japanese discount retail chain's first app partnership in the city.
The exclusive partnership with Deliveroo Hong Kong will enable Don Don Donki's customers to access a variety of snacks, ready-to-eat meals and daily essentials. Services under this partnership are available across multiple neighbourhoods in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories, reaching more than 1.5 million customers. Customers can also choose to pick-up at the store to skip the queue.
At the same time, this partnership represents Deliveroo Hong Kong's deepening penetration into the on-demand grocery segment. In October, the platform launched its on-demand grocery offer, offering customers across the city easier access to supermarket and convenience store retailers such as Marks & Spencer and 7-Eleven.
"We are dedicated to staying on top of consumer trends and catering to what our customers want, so Don Don Donki is an extremely relevant brand and partner to bring on board as we deepen our on-demand grocery sector penetration," said Brian Lo, general manager of Deliveroo Hong Kong.
With the online grocery market in Asia expected to reach over US$295 billion by 2023, Deliveroo Hong Kong said it is aimed at meeting consumers' changing demands, which is particularly important as consumer habits continue to evolve alongside COVID-19 restrictions.
"The potential of e-commerce grocery services is significant, particularly in light of COVID-19, and we will continue to work with more large brands to help Hongkongers conveniently access the products they want and need," said Lo.
