DBS Hong Kong is tapping into the prevalence of the buy-now-pay-later payment method among the younger generation, featuring celebrity Ansonbean in a campaign to introduce a new app.
The bank said it had seen the rise of the buy-now-pay-later among youngsters who still want to shop with limited cash flows. In response to the trend, the bank has revamped the customer experience by launching an application process for the New Flexi Shopping Programme under their new Card+ app.
Customers can split their purchase with a one-off handling fee after spending HK$500 or above, while they can also choose a payment plan of three to 60 months to reduce the burden.
To engage the youngsters, the bank has invited Ansonbean in a video, where he shows off his dance moves and raps about all the benefits of Flexi Shopping in front of a digitalised backdrop mimicking the metaverse era.
"We are excited about how the metaverse, Web3, and gaming will transform our lives, just like any of our youthful customers. Our excitement and curiosity for the future lead us to constantly reinvent and innovate the ways we talk about our business, which is to help our customers to enjoy their life and passion to the fullest without hassle," said Julie Chiu, executive director, head of marketing and marketing communications, DBS HK consumer banking group and wealth management.
To go with the campaign, the bank has also launched a lucky draw, allowing customers to win prizes when they have successfully applied for Flexi Shopping, regardless of the number of instalments and the application channel. DBS Hong Kong will award a land on The Sandbox's metaverse which is valued at about HK$66,000.
