English former footballer David Beckham has become the strategic investor of Hong Kong-based health sciences firm Prenetics. The two parties will set up a new health and wellness brand called IM8, which focuses on cutting-edge consumer health products.
The partnership with Beckham marks a transformative era for Prenetics in global health innovation and wellness, according to Danny Yeung (pictured left), CEO and co-founder of Prenetics. "Beckham epitomises the values of discipline, teamwork and health, aligning perfectly with Prenetics' core principles," he added.
“Working closely with Beckham these past months, I've been consistently inspired by his vision for accessible health for all. His passion and commitment are truly extraordinary. With IM8, we have a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the consumer health and wellness industry,” Yeung added.
"Throughout my life and career, I've been fortunate to have access to the best medical professionals, nutrition experts, and fitness coaches. Their guidance has been crucial to my health and well-being. That’s why I am excited to be working with Prenetics - a company that is dedicated to innovative, world-leading scientific advancements in health - as a co-founding partner and ambassador for IM8,” said Beckham.

While its consumer initiative is led by the new wellness brand IM8, its clinical division is led by Insighta, a US$200m joint venture with scientist Dennis Lo, focused on multi-cancer early detection technologies. This is followed by ACT Genomics, a comprehensive genomic profiling of solid tumors; and CircleDNA, which uses NGS to offer comprehensive DNA tests.
Back in June last year, Prenetics appointed Fave founder Joel Neoh to head CircleDNA as its new managing director. Additionally, Neoh also takes on the role of chief consumer officer of the group as it looks to further expand CircleDNA into a leading consumer preventive healthcare platform.
Established in 2014, Prenetics was founded with a vision to revolutionise healthcare through innovative technology. The company houses various units that commit to "enhancing life through science".
