Hong Kong telecommunications company csl previously rolled out a campaign featuring the entire team of MIRROR to engage fans of the boyband and promote its 5G service plan. Recently, the company dominated a high traffic space in the city, allowing passers-by to leverage the AR technology to watch a MIRROR video. Located near department store SOGO at Causeway Bay, the ad was created in collaboration with POAD. Passers-by can use the camera of any compatible 5G mobile handset after downloading and activating the “csl. 5G Lens” to turn the static billboard into an interactive video. The MIRROR virtual billboard is in action until 4 January 2022.
csl said the AR technology, in conjunction with csl’s 5G network, opens up outdoor-to-online advertising possibilities for companies such as POAD. Looking ahead, POAD will launch outdoor-to-online integrated media solutions in Hong Kong throughout the company’s vast outdoor billboard network. "The move means outdoor advertising billboards can now be transformed into interactive video productions that can be updated rapidly with the latest marketing promotions and enjoyed by 5G mobile users," the company added.
In addition to the billboard, csl is also launching a Christmas-themed pop-up gallery at Times Square, featuring all 12 MIRROR members. An exclusive MIRROR fan club corner is being established, allowing fans to source, share and swap MIRROR collectibles. Customers can also take home MIRROR-themed Christmas decorations and benefit from a new series of MIRROR-themed collectibles by subscribing to a 5G MIRROR Plan.
"Since we launched 5G and the ‘csl. 5G Lens’ last April, we’ve been working hard to grow our 5G ecosystem, so customers can reap the benefits of this exciting technology," said Bruce Lam, managing director of CSL Mobile.
"For example, we’ve harnessed the power of 5G to make this large-scale MIRROR AR spectacle available to Hong Kong citizens. It demonstrates the potential of AR technology and how easily it can become part of our everyday lives. In fact, this is just the start of a sensational new trend in Hong Kong, which is known worldwide as an early adopter of new technologies," he added.
