Crabtree & Evelyn is reportedly closing down its brick-and-mortar stores globally, as it plans to move its operations online. According to The Straits Times, apart from the closure of stores, the brand will leave one retail store open in London. The article also said that over the Christmas period, there were storewide sales in Singapore outlets. Products were given discounts of up to 70%. In December, the UK company had filed for bankruptcy protection in Canada as it faced losses in its business. Several media outlets had speculated that the losses were due to the change in consumer demand and behaviour, as well as the rise of e-commerce. On its Facebook page, Crabtree & Evelyn was promoting its products and its storewide sales. Comments by netizens were not responded by the brand either. Marketing has reached out to Crabtree & Evelyn for comment. Crabtree & Evelyn was founded in 1955, and was acquired in October 2016, by Nan Hai Corporation of Hong Kong.
