Malaysian telecommunications company, Maxis has launched a Chinese New Year film that aims to remind consumers to have deeper conversations with their loved ones.

The campaign film features actor Jack Tan, DJ Maq Lai, DJ Yoon Ng and former national badminton player Goh Liu Ying as they get tasked with having a heart-to-heart phone call with a loved one.

As the four individuals shake off their nerves to make their phone calls, the opportunity to get certain matters off their chest results in emotional and heart-warming exchanges.

For example, Ng has always wanted to reach out to her sister who has been balancing work while taking care of their dad since he had health issues last year. Through the phone call, Ng worked up the courage to lend a helping hand to her sister who she feels has been doing so much for the family.

Meanwhile, Tan called his partner and revealed that he was afraid she may not need him anymore after she wanted to sort out her tyre by herself. As the couple reaches a resolution, Tan notes that he felt better after having that conversation.

“This year, our brand video revolves around the theme of making CNY celebrations even more special by creating more meaningful connections with our loved ones by expressing what’s in our hearts,” said a representative from Maxis.

As the audience witnesses the emotional exchanges that happen over the phone, Maxis drives home that sometimes a call is all it takes to form deeper connections and grow closer to our loved ones.

Maxis has also been involved in growing the rate of digital adoption among Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It recently collaborated with Public Bank to promote digitalisation among SMEs via a joint awareness programme.

Maxis and Public Bank will pave the way for SMEs to access digital solutions, together with the financial assistance to implement them. In tandem, both companies will jointly engage their respective customers through on-ground and online activities. These include activities such as awareness talks across Public Bank's branch network.
