PHD Hong Kong CEO Clement Chung will be leaving his role to join ViuTV as general manager on 19 April.
Chung was appointed as CEO last February, elevating from his position of managing director. He held the managing director role for approximately three years, becoming MD of PHD Hong Kong in December 2017. He took on the role when former PHD Hong Kong chief executive Ray Wong stepped down after 25 years with Omnicom. During that time, Chung was GM of PHD Hong Kong.
Chung has worked for Omnicom Group for more than two decades after joining in 1994 to run the planning department at DDB Hong Kong, according to his LinkedIn. Chung has worked closely with Wong to establish the PHD network in Hong Kong over the past 11 years across both Hong Kong and China.
In the meantime, ViuTV's current director and general manager Lofai Lo will be the CEO of MakerVille, a newly established company under PCCW Media Group focused on content creation, artiste management and events. MakerVille will continue to provide ViuTV with innovative and quality content while also exploring production partnerships and opportunities beyond Hong Kong. Lo is also a member of the Board of HKTVE (ViuTV).
Last year, Omnicom made a slew of leadership changes along with Chung’s appointment. The network appointed Florence Wong as CEO of OMD Hong Kong; Derek Yip to chief investment and trading officer at OMG Hong Kong; Gary Wong to chief operations officer at OMG Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, under Chung’s leadership, the agency also hired Lawrence Lo as the new managing partner. Lo’s advertising, marketing, and digital abilities expand across both agency and client-side within Asia Pacific, serving brands in the banking and finance sector such as TransUnion, Citibank and BlackRock.
In October last year, PHD has also undergone a brand refresh with a new mark to reflect its philosophy “Make the Leap” - a call to action for leveraging the power of imagination to drive disproportionate growth for its clients’ business. The new branding will be implemented internally and externally across all of PHD’s markets.
PHD’s new brand identity was designed with digital, motion, and audio capabilities in mind and reimagined to fully embody PHD’s brand philosophy. At the core of the brand refresh are visual assets that represent PHD’s values of creativity, courage, openness, collaboration, and curiosity.
