Chinachem Group has opened a shopping mall at its latest development in Tseung Kwan O, kicking off with a Sanrio character exhibition to attract customers.Located in southern Tseung Kwan O,  the Papillons Square shopping mall is part of the Papillions residential estate developed by Chinachem Group. To celebrate the opening, Chinachem Group has launched a Gudetama-themed exhibition (entitled “Gudetama 盛大Chill-Lebration”) across the mall, aimed at increasing footfall with photogenic installations. For the uninitiated, Gudetama – a more recent and hugely popular addition to the Sanrio universe – is a lazy anthropomorphic egg yolk, often pictured lounging with a proudly displayed derrière.The group is offering souvenirs of Gudetama to customers including blindfolds, luggage straps, and blankets. It has also installed claw machines to offer interactive experiences and further engage customers.“We’re confident with the future of the shopping mall as its footfall and turnover during the soft launch period have been beyond our expectations,” said Daniel Choi, executive director and CEO of Chinachem Group.“We also expect the average footfall during weekends will reach 40,000. Also, the average spending will range from HK$300 to HK$1,200. Other than Papillons Square, Chinachem group will add different elements across our malls to keep pace with the market,” he concluded.Following the exhibition, Chinechem group is positioning the mall as an education hub in the district. Currently, the mall has a kindergarten, a music school, and the largest Jumpin Gym U.S.A. a family entertainment centre company based in Hong Kong’s New Territories.
