Chariot Agency has promoted Gillian Yap to the role of general manager. The appointment marks a significant milestone in Yap's career, having joined the agency as head of account management in 2022.

In her new role as general manager, Yap will oversee the agency's day-to-day operations, drive business development, and continue to spearhead high-impact projects.

“Under Yap’s leadership, Chariot is poised to strengthen its position as a forward-thinking and results-driven agency,” said Adrian Cheah, managing director, Chariot Agency.

He also expressed confidence in Yap's abilities, saying that Yap brings an energy that brightens the agency as a whole.

"She makes things fun but also knows when it’s time for serious business. She has been a driving force in our agency’s success. Her promotion to general manager is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent. We are excited to see how she will continue to lead Chariot to new heights," added Cheah.

Prior to joining Chariot Agency in 2022, Yap was an account director and associate account director at Invictus Blue.

She was also a digital strategist at Tropicana Corporation where she proposed and executed digital marketing campaigns, developed social media channels and was responsible for creating digital assets, according to her LinkedIn page.

Yap also served as an account manager and account executive at Saatchi & Saatchi Arachnid. She started her career in advertising as an account management and social media management intern at Tribal Worldwide Malaysia, said her LinkedIn.

“I'm thrilled to take on this new role at Chariot, where I'll have the opportunity to solidify our ways of working and, more importantly, cultivate a healthy and enjoyable culture within the agency. This recognition of my work is truly an honour," said Yap.

"Chariot has had a strong foundation from the beginning, and my challenge will be to maintain this momentum by continuing to deliver excellent work for our clients while attracting talented individuals with diverse skill sets," she added.

Yap's promotion comes at a pivotal time for Chariot, having expanded its portfolio of clients. The agency also named a new creative group head recently.

In June this year, Chariot Agency named Cavan Ang as its new creative group head. In his role, Ang will be working closely with Christyna Fong, creative director, Kuah Jenhan, creative director and Jarrod Reginald, executive creative director.

Ang was previously the co-founder of Fetch Malaysia. Fetch is a subscription service for healthy local pet supplies. Prior to that, he worked at VMLY&R Commerce as a senior copywriter, he held the role for just under three years.

He has also worked at Ensemble which is under IPG Mediabrands.
