Advertising and digital media company Catcha Digital, has appointed Patrick Ykin Grove (pictured) as its new chairman. He will be commencing his duties in his new position from  March 2023. Grove's appointment follows the resignation of former chairman, Larry Gan Nyap Liow, who is stepping down from his position as independent non-executive chairman of Catcha Digital.

A major shareholder, co-founder and non-independent non-executive director of Catcha Digital, Grove is a seasoned entrepreneur and investor with over 20 years of experience in the digital media and technology industry. In a statement, Catcha Digital added that Grove has founded and taken six companies from a start-up to initial public offerings (IPO). He has been a founding member of multiple companies such as iflix, iCar Asia, iProperty Group, Wild Digital, Frontier Digital Ventures, Instahome and Carsome along with Catcha Digital as gleaned from his LinkedIn page.

In a statement to the press, Grove expressed his excitement to work with the Catcha Digital’s team. His predecessor, Gan said that the code of corporate governance’s practice of limiting independent directors’ tenure to nine years indicates that it is timely for him to step aside to make way for a new director. “It has been a great journey with Grove... and I wish the company the very best,” he added.

Grove previously said that through his experiences co-founding the aforementioned companies, he has learnt that big digital businesses can be built from the grounds of Malaysia. He added that the company has also learnt that partnering with great entrepreneurs can accelerate disruption and grow its business.

“Hence, we aim to make the right investments and acquisitions with great leaders of digital businesses to grow Catcha Digital into the next digital behemoth in the public markets,” said Grove.

Grove is a well known name withing the Southeast Asian entrepreneurial scene. Under his  guidance as director, REV Asia changed its name and logo to Catcha Digital. According to the company, this switch was made in 2021 to signify a new direction for Catcha Digital and embodied Catcha Group’s active participation within the company’s day-to-day operations.

It was also in line with the Group’s goals to become a major player across all segments of digital businesses. Catcha Digital aims to accelerate its growth through expanding its digital operations, strategic digital investments and value-adding M&A.
