
Cartier names new marcomms director for HK and Macau

Luxury goods maker Cartier has appointed Karen Kang (pictured) as its new marketing and communications director for Hong Kong and Macau.
In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Kang said she will report to Nigel Luk, regional managing director of North Asia, Cartier. In her new position, she will be responsible for devising the marketing, client and communications strategy to optimise performance across all product categories, building brand equity and visibility in Cartier’s Hong Kong and Macau markets.
Prior to her new role, Kang was at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts as assistant vice president of marketing for Hong Kong. With over 15 years of hospitality management experience, she had also helmed various senior roles at different hotels across the APAC region such as Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel and The St. Regis Macao, The St. Regis Bangkok, Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur, amongst others.

Back in October last year, Cartier has launched an immersive experience to introduce its seven core collections through interactive, personalised, shareable and augmented reality experiences. Also known as “Culture of Design”, the physical and digital exploratory encountered for six weeks at Lee Garden Three, beginning on 20 October 2022. With the help of multi-sensorial experience, the event aimed to engage and excite the new generation who appreciate essential, eternal and classic design, as well as to reveal Cartier's craftmanship.
Within the experience, visitors were first greeted by Cartier curators and the curves of a watchmaking wall showcasing Santos, Tank, Panthère and Ballon Bleu timepieces, video clips and design stories. Further into the experience, there were a majestic display of touchscreens, storytelling devices and jewellery showcases shares the brilliance of Cartier’s LOVE, Juste un Clou and Trinity icons and their subsequent bejewelled expressions.
