Carro embarks on high-speed chase to find mysterious family member this Raya

Singapore-based online used car marketplace Carro has released a new Hari Raya film that adds a cheeky take on the journey to one’s hometown for the festive season (balik kampung journey) with a high-speed car-chase to find Siti.

Titled ‘Who is Siti?’, the film begins with a mother suddenly asking her son to follow a bright orange car to meet Siti despite the family being stuck in a jam.

Thinking his Mother spotted a long-lost family member, the son puts on a pair of sunglasses and begins his high-speed chase as he overtakes other drivers on the busy road.

As the chase goes on, the orange car ends up behind the family and they lose hope trying to meet Siti. However, they meet the orange car again at a pit stop as a man exits the car.

In a hilarious twist, the 'Siti' the mother was referring to was the Honda City car that they traded for their current car with Carro last year.

Despite the new paint job and the car looking brand new, the mother recognised the car license plate and revealed its significance as a reminder of her recently deceased husband.

“After last year’s tearjerker which highlighted the importance of going home to what matters, we thought it was only right for this year’s film to show that the journey home is equally precious,” said Carro creative director, Simond Chew.

“We also wanted to break expectations and flip the usual heart-wrenching Raya genre on its head; what better way to bring out the excitement of going home with a high-tension, comedic car chase adventure,” added Chew.

As the man who exited the Honda City car begins tearing up at the emotional significance of the car, he reveals that he too was trying to get the family’s attention because their boot was not fully closed.

“The balik kampung drive might take hours, but every journey, every traffic jam and every car ride forms a family’s collective memories,” also added Carro regional head of marketing, Katherine Teo.

In Malaysia, myTukar was recently officially renamed to Carro earlier this month. The rename will officially see 'Carro' be incorporated across myTukar's range of products and services, marketing materials and physical signages across Malaysia.

It is currently operating in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan and Thailand.
