CARiNG Pharmacy unravels the effects of broken families in Raya film

CARiNG Pharmacy has unveiled a film titled “Syawal di hati, kenangan abadi” (‘Syawal at heart, unchanging memories’) for Aidilfitri— a season for celebration and forgiveness. The short film explores how conflicts can tear families apart leaving the children to bear the deepest wounds, through a heartbreaking yet hopeful narrative.
The story follows Angah and Along, two siblings who are separated after their father decides to leave the house after a heated argument with their mother.
Amid the chaos, their father pulls Angah away, and the siblings desperately cling to a cherished painting— a treasured reminder of their bond. As Angah is dragged out of the house, the painting rips apart, mirroring their family breaking in two.

Ahead of Aidilfitri, Along arrives at her grandmother’s house with her mother, but the emptiness left by her brother’s absence lingers.
As the mother joins Along’s grandmother to weave some ketupat ('rice cake'), the grandmother shares her wisdom as they discuss the breaking apart of their family. Relationships, like ketupat, must be carefully held together. Pull too hard, and they break. Leave them too loose, and they unravel.
She reminds her troubled daughter, that the children also suffer when the parents fight or split up. Along’s mother takes these words to heart, reflecting on past celebrations— the laughter, traditions and the bond her children once shared.
Overcome with regret, she makes a heartfelt phone call to the children’s father, carrying unspoken emotions and a desire to rebuild their family, opening the door to co-parenting. The children then reunite on Syawal (the first day of Eid), and are able to work on their painting together again.
At the heart of the film is a painting by Wan Jamila Wan Shaiful Bahri, also known as ARTJAMILA, a gifted Malaysian savant autistic artist. CARiNG said the artwork serves as a reflection of resilience and the power of healing, just as how Angah and Along strive to mend their relationship.
As a part of the “Syawal di hati, kenangan abadi” campaign, CARiNG Pharmacy has also collaborated with ARTJAMILA to design limited-edition Raya packets.
In announcing the collaboration back in February, CARiNG Pharmacy said the artist, known for her vibrant and expressive artworks, brings her unique creativity to this special design, promoting inclusivity and raising awareness about autism.
Customers will be able to obtain the packets for free with a minimum of RM30 spent between 7 March to 7 April at all outlets. It has also introduced purchase-with-purchase offers as a part of the pharmacy's Riang Raya (lively Raya) sales.
CARiNG is not the only pharmacy to release a Raya film, as Watsons Malaysia launched its brand film titled “Watsons Raya Terunggul” (The best Raya) for the festive season. The production reunited legendary characters from Malaysia’s beloved film and television series such as Mami jarum, Adnan sempit, and Gerak khas.
Separately, cosmetics brand Kiehl's Malaysia unveiled a new micro-drama series on TikTok titled "Cahaya Raya" ('Raya's light'). The series follows the story of Raya, a 'nepo baby' who finds self-worth and the ability to love herself after going through a series of personal challenges and life changes.
