Buy now pay later brand Atome has appointed former entrepreneur Poompong Tancharoenphol to lead its operations in Thailand, which will be officially launched in Q4 2021. Tabcharoenphol (pictured) said that his immediate focus will be building the brand's local partnership, HR, marketing, and operations team to better support its merchant partnerships and enable their success. "COVID-19 is a big test for the Thai retail sector, which needs all the support it can get. Through new partnerships and digital commerce innovation, buy now pay later can play a big role in powering the retail sector’s economic recovery," he added.

Prior to joining Atome, Tabcharoenphol was the Thailand country head for fashion eCommerce platform Zilingo, where he led a team of over 100 employees; according to his LinkedIn. Tabcharoenphol also has over 15 years of international experience in venture capital and leading B2C and B2B fashion and eCommerce, marketing, and fintech operations. He previously worked at SCG, Digital Ventures, B2B platform Frontera, Plus One Apparel, and Gimmick Apparel.

“Tabcharoenphol’s leadership experience and knowledge of retail, digital commerce and fintech will be invaluable as we scale our Thai operations and build on our rapid growth across Asia,” Atome's CEO David Chen said. Atome Thailand currently has a team of six staff on ground, which will increase to nine in the coming weeks.

Headquartered in Singapore, Atome launched its buy now, pay later service in Singapore in December 2019. For consumers, Atome offers choice, convenience, and flexibility in how they choose to shop and pay with three equal payments over time, with zero interest, annual or service fees. Over the last 12 months, Atome has expanded into other key markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and mainland China. Atome Thailand currently has partnered with about 15 top brands, such as Charles & Keith, Anello, Sephora, Osim and Agoda.

Earlier this year, Atome formed a new music group comprising a litter of kittens named the Atome Kittens, as part of its latest shoppertainment campaign. Alongside the group's debut was a new single titled "Let's Get It, Get It", aimed to drum up hype for the Atome Get It Week which will ran from 11 to 20 June 2021 in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong.
