Independent media house BurdaLuxury has promoted Martin Teo (pictured) to editor-in-chief of Lifestyle Asia Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Prior to his promotion, Teo was the editor-in-chief of Lifestyle Asia Kuala Lumpur, a role he held since 2023.

In his new role, Teo will drive key strategies for the editorial and creative growth of Lifestyle Asia, ensuring greater synergies between the two countries. The new structure will enable the teams in Malaysia and Singapore to work collaboratively, while honouring the local market preferences.

In addition to producing regionally relevant content, Teo’s expanded role will see him merge local and cross-territory stories, as well as re-introduce digital covers for Lifestyle Asia Singapore. The approach will enhance the editorial content and create a stronger relationship between the two countries, with Lifestyle Asia Singapore set to introduce new campaigns and expand on its existing initiatives, such as Lifestyle Asia Singapore’s "Made in Asia" campaign, which offers a lens into the lives and contributions of the individuals who are actively shaping contemporary lifestyles in both Singapore and Malaysia.

Teo, who joined the organisation in 2018, previously held several roles at BurdaLuxury Malaysia, including head of digital marketing for Prestige, PIN Prestige, Lifestyle Asia, and AUGUSTMAN, and editor of Lifestyle Asia Kuala Lumpur before being promoted to editor-in-chief.

Teo’s positions at BurdaLuxury Malaysia has allowed him to demonstrate his vision and leadership qualities through initiatives and campaigns that he has launched, notably Lifestyle Asia Kuala Lumpur’s "Z list" and "LSA100", platforms that recognise young talents across the nation.

Prior to joining BurdaLuxury, Teo served as creative director at Brainstorm Consultancy for three years, further highlighting his editorial and creative foresight. Teo was also the editor of print media company Key Editions, where he managed editorial strategies for D+A magazine and oversaw its digital launch. Additionally, Teo held senior roles in Great Easter Life Malaysia and In Publishers Sdn Bhd.

On his new role, Teo said, "Adding Lifestyle Asia Singapore into the portfolio of brands under my care is truly an incredible honour. With Lifestyle Asia in Malaysia, we continue to celebrate milestones through storytelling and inspire those around us to live their best lives."

He added, "My vision with this expanded role is to carry over the flair that exists with the brand in Malaysia over into the Singaporean market, particularly with leading the Made in Asia campaign and ensuring consistent and meaningful digital covers. By creating alignment between the two territories and staying true to Lifestyle Asia’s core values, I am excited to convey the meaning of ‘living the good life’ to our audiences."

In tandem, Lena Kwek, managing director and publisher at BurdaLuxury Singapore and Malaysia said, "As editor-in-chief of Lifestyle Asia for both Malaysia and Singapore, I am confident in Teo’s ability to provide the necessary exposure to drive growth and increase the brand’s presence through a greater holistic understanding of market trends and opportunities. With access to both the Malaysian and Singaporean markets, Teo will have the exposure to different cultures that will enable him to channel his creative energy to be able to promote greater revenue streams for the brand."

"We are constantly looking out for new breakthroughs and initiatives, and with his expanded role, I am certain that Teo will be able to bring these cross-border initiatives to life, further strengthening Lifestyle Asia’s impact across both territories," she added.
