Bupa Hong Kong has appointed Fiona Harris (pictured) as managing director, effective from 3 October. She will succeed Andrew Merrilees, who departs the firm after five years.
Within her new role, Harris will report to Nick Stone, CEO, Bupa Asia Pacific. She is tasked at guiding Bupa Hong Kong and Quality HealthCare Medical Services towards a future of growth, with a steadfast focus on delivering a high standard of customer support and care.
Harris brings over three decades of experience in the healthcare sector. Having worked at Bupa for 30 years, she has held several leadership positions including head of pricing strategy and development, finance development director and director of capital management. Most recently, she was the finance director of Bupa Insurance and Bupa Insurance Services.
Her appointment aims to reinforce Bupa Hong Kong’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, grounded in deep understanding of the healthcare sector.
“Harris’ appointment comes at a pivotal time as Bupa strives to deliver on our ambition of being the most customer-centric healthcare organisation. We believe Harris’ extensive experience and leadership will not only drive our growth but also significantly enhance our ability to provide integrated, personalised healthcare services to the people of Hong Kong,” said Nick Stone, chief executive officer, Bupa Asia Pacific.
“Our commitment to delivering exceptional health care to our customers is truly inspiring. Aligned with Bupa’s purpose of helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world, I believe that with a customer-centric approach, innovative thinking and a dedicated team, we can continue to provide the high-quality, highly personalised care and make a palpable difference to the lives of our customers in Hong Kong,” Harris said.
Meanwhile, Merrilees will step down from his role as Bupa HK's managing director. He was promoted in March last year, where he was responsible for leading the company’s transformation to underpin Bupa’s unique position in Hong Kong to deliver a holistic healthcare experience with both health insurance through the Bupa brand and health provision through Quality HealthCare.
